Check it out!

Foreign Brothers and Crown Ruler come together to present to you party people The Mebourne Hip Hop Festival on Friday, February 22nd at the Evelyn Hotel.

Come celebrate, experience and embody Melbourne city’s love for Hip Hop culture with a coalition of our finest local artists and emerging crews performing across 3-stages to support New York City’s legendary Jungle Brothers (Straight out the jungle!) performing live and direct.

So what do we got in store that makes this thing here an actual/factual festival?

We’ve got a panel discussion to put this “festival” into context by exploring the past, present and future of Hip Hop culture in Australia with the artists that are making the music. We’ve got a rooftop day party with Sunset Cities (SO.Crates, Nelson Dialect, Alnitak Kid via Bedroom Suck) launching their debut album with special guest supports Majiwa, HDSN x NYNNO (new upcoming project by ESESE own Hdsnjmsjr), DJ Lady Erica and more with some Caribbean inspired food for your plate being served up by the multi-talented musicians and chefs Skomes & Jace XL.

We’ve got the hump day heroes Mellowdías Thump DJs (GSM, Colette, Melo Felo, Darcy Justice) trading the classic wax with the architects of wreck the House Of Beige DJs (MzRizk (DJ), DJ Kolawole, J-Smith) in a sound clash that is going to be dripping with the funk.

We’ve got a band room stage with Melbourne heavies Krown, Curse Ov Dialect, Lady Lash, Kieren Lee (Big Words), Rara Zulu (full band), SADIVA & Rararaj beat battle, the next generation HXNNY & MOMO, Simo Wall, Wave + Paul Gorrie and DANNY OSX on the decks and the Killer Hertz crew on JAM duties…you get the picture.

After years and years of watching the musical landscape evolve, divisions revolve and the best of our brothers and sisters still have to fight the industry for their right to self-define, we realize that now is the time for the lovers of this music to connect the dots themselves.

Our goal: to program something that is Hip Hop based on how we feel it so that this thriving community has a chance to come together at large and bug out on how beautiful they are when they make the jam together. Your job: Show up. Dig on the roots of Hip Hop culture and witness the impact of its global influence over a full day of beats, rhymes and life.

Like an exquisite blend from a turntable transitioning from left to right, the beat brings it all together.

Yo, what happened to peace? Peace, peace peace peace peace

This event is taking place on the stolen land of the Wurundjeri people and we pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging.
